Paco has always seemed like a contrarian. He rejects idiomatic music outright with Saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi in Nakata; rocks in opposition to nearly everything with Zeuhl torchbearers Corima; and layers unhinged effects for art-punks Prettiest Eyes, who don't even have a guitarist for chrissakes. Yet here he is, carving a vibrant landscape over 4/4 beats. It's not that he's rejected his most unconventional sensibilities – there are avant nods tucked into these tracks – it's that he's letting us see beyond them. This is the kosmische video game soundtrack that maps the inside of Paco's head. It seems a musical life spent inside outre eventually turn itself outside in.

“Tijuana Raceway” is a distillation of this solo direction. It gets the single treatment here. And physical: Uba Tuba presents it as a single-sided 7" lathe (with lathe-exclusive infinity loop). Digital b-side “Luzysol” will delight and point the way to what you might expect from future Paco Casanova music: cosmic circuitry, my friends, inner-world navigation systems.
